Finding the Path

"Tao" means the path or the way.

I'm still trying to find my way as a writer.  I'm writing on a wide range of topics.

Last week I wrote "The Tao of Balanced Energy: Nutrition, Exercise, and Spirituality."  Please take a look at it and leave a comment to let me know your thoughts.

In the article, I give tips for healthy eating and recommend a plant-centered diet. One of the ways to fit health into a busy life is to use convenience foods. When I first switched to a healthy diet about 30 years, there were no convenience foods.  It is so much easier now.

I provide some recipes in my article and recommend some convenience foods.  I buy them at Costco, but you can also get them at amazon. com.

A Super Hero Alter Ego

Meet Miss Grammers
The Naughty Librarian

I have assumed a secret identity.  Since it is not really so secret now that I have told everyone, let's just say I have an alter ego.

Think of me as a super-hero and my super power is explaining arcane rules of grammar in a clear and concise way.

Check out Miss Grammers' first article--The Naughty Grammarian: Affect or Effect and her second article The Naughty Grammarian: Is it "Fewer" or "Less"

"The Elements of Style" is an old favorite. It was first published William Strunk in 1918. In 1959, E. B. White became a co-author and the book was expanded. The latest edition, the fourth edition, was published in 1999 with a forward by Roger Angell. Everyone should own a copy.

7/25/14: Update: Jon Stewart misused "fewer/less" last night.  Follow the link to learn more. Miss Grammers is pleased to learn that her advice is indeed needed.

Update:  New posts from the Naughty Grammarian.

Success or Happiness: Which is easier to achieve?

I wrote an article, How to be Happy,  about the 15 rules of happiness, using quotations from famous people, and it attracted good number of viewers.

So I thought I'd try the same technique for success. I wrote How to Be Successful, but I only came up with 10 rules this time. Does this mean that success is easier to achieve than happiness?

Did I miss any of the rules?  Use the comments section to let me know what you think I should add.  Or you could just use the comments section to tell me what a good job I did.)

Also, take a few seconds to do he polls at the end of each article.  I'd love to see how that turns out.

From Happiness to Zombies

by Catherine Giordano

Courtesy of Philosophy Now
I go from happiness to zombies. No one can say I am not eclectic.

Philosophers have always discussed happiness, going all the way back to Aristotle.  But did you know that today philosophers discuss "the zombie problem"?

What does philosophy have to day about zombies? Read about it here:

Then turn to a sunnier topic and read what I have to say about happiness.

Just Be Happy--It's the Little Things

I wrote a HubPages article: How to Be Happy: The 48 Best Quotes   by Famous People On Happiness.    I came up with 15 rules for happiness based on quotes about happiness made by famous people.

Today I want to add Rule #5a: Rule 5 is "Have an attitude of gratitude." a sub-set of that rule could be: "Don't overlook the little things."

I don't have a quote for that except maybe, "The best things in life are free."

I feel happy when I see someone has given me a "like" or a "share" or a "retweet" or a "repin" (on pinterst). I'm overjoyed to get a comment, a follower, a fan letter.  And people can give these things for free.

Since they are free and can bring so much happiness, I'm taking the time to bestow them freely on others.  Maybe it takes five minutes out of my day, but if it makes someone feel a little iota of pleasure, I'm happy to do it.

Jumping for Joy

A research survey shows that at any random moment, 70% of people describe their mood as happy. You can take the poll at my newest web article "How to Be Happy."  Scroll to the end to see the poll.

Just looking at this picture makes me happy.

I'm feeling happy because I had a good day yesterday. Somebody clicked a link on one of my posts to a book and bought it on amazon and somebody (or maybe a few of somebodies) took a moment to view the message(s) of my sponsors that appear on each post.

I completed my fifth article for HubPages*, which means I have passed their "boot camp" for newbies. Also, all of my articles received "featured" status and got high ratings for content.  Since each one takes 10 to 20 hours to write, I am thankful for the high ratings.

Content is one part of the ratings, but reader engagement is also a big component. The level is reader engagement is determined by how many read the article and many engage by doing the poll or leaving a comment.

I want to thank everyone who is reading and engaging with my work.

My Life as a Zombie

That's me as a zombie.
Looking good!
Red eyes are all the vogue!
I've spent the past week dead-to-the-world writing the best web article I have done so far. I did a lot of research to make it the most comprehensive look at the zombie craze possible and then a lot of work to make it a breeze to read. Zombies: The Popularity, History, Psychology, Philosophy and Reality

Please help me make it popular by helping to raise it's ranking. Just click the link.  If you don't have time to read the whole piece, maybe you could just do the brief the one-question poll or leave a comment. Polls and comments are very helpful.

If you like the article, use the facebook button at the end of the article to share it.

Maybe you don't like zombies. I have three other articles all on different topics. (I'm so eclectic in my interests.) Please click one (or more) to help popularize them.
